Fishing & Lead Capture – Part Three of Three

Fishing & Lead Capture – Part Three of Three

The last in a three part article series about lead capture and email marketing – from a different perspective.

Keywords:
lead capture,email marketing,network marketing,list building,internet marketing,direct marketing

In parts one and two we overviewed fishing for leads, then went into detail on baiting, presenting and setting your hook on new leads for your business.

Of course, the purpose of your lead generation is to sell a product, service, or opportunity. That’s your number one priority – to make contacts and turn them into customers.

You’ve gotta land that fish.

Now that you have set the hook with subscription confirmation and delivered the bait you promised on your lead capture page …

How do you get him in without snapping the line?

Well, you have to get your emails read – or all the previous effort is wasted.

Consider the subject of each email as a headline. If it’s not interesting enough to be opened you will probably lose your fish.

Keep your (head)line tight. Short and sweet, and usually presenting a benefit – a darn good reason to open the email.

If you don’t keep the line tight he will throw the hook – and throw your email in the trash.

Some fish fight harder than others. Many potential customers are quite defensive. Why should they trust you? They don’t even know you. To earn their trust, and to have the best chance of landing your fish, use high quality line – VALUE.

Give of yourself. Give of your time. Give something of value to earn the respect and trust of your subscriber – and don’t allow any slack in your line.

You offered the right bait.
You set the hook with confirmation.
You keep your (head)line tight so they don’t throw the hook (in the trash).
You use strong line by providing valuable information.

…and you keep reeling up the slack.

You use your email to guide your customer to the sales page – and ultimately to the sale.

You can’t force it or something will break – the line (reads but no clicks), the hook (thrown in the trash) – something will go wrong and you will go hungry.

Guide, offer, help, inform, entice…

Closer and closer he gets until you finally grab the net. …and the net profit.

Above all, treat your lead with respect. There is a person behind that email address.

Do you prefer a mailbox full of ads? … or useful information and related links?

Do you prefer an honest review? … or a hard sales pitch?

When you DO offer a product, service or opportunity … offer something of value – not junk for easy money. Your reputation won’t stand up to it.

Treat your lead, your subscriber, your new friend like a person. Give them a good reason to do business with YOU.

… and stop treating them like fish.

Ok, so maybe fishing and lead capture don’t have THAT much in common after all.

Sorry. My bad.

While word of mouth attracted new users, it was not until it won Best Family Web site in last year’s WebAward competition that things took off for the Family Cookbook Project.

With its Web site, Family Cookbook Project, the small business helps families and groups create and print personalized cookbooks to share and treasure. The simple-to-use site automates the process of gathering and formatting recipes into a family heirloom.

“We were very excited to win a WebAward from the Web Marketing Association, but we had no idea the visibility it would create for our site,” said publisher Richard Lowell. “All of a sudden we went from being a good, useful Web site that people talked about to their friends to having the credibility of being an award-winning Web site.”

The international WebAward competition sets the standard of excellence in 96 industry categories by evaluating Web sites and defining benchmarks based on the seven essential criteria of successful Web site development. The factors the Web Marketing Association says are critical to a site’s success are: design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use.

The goal of the Web Marketing Association is to provide a forum to recognize the people and organizations responsible for developing some of the most effective Web sites on the Internet today. Entrants benefit from a Web site assessment by a professional judging panel and the marketing opportunities that go along with an award-winning Web site.

“As a small-business owner, I need to leverage every marketing dollar I have,” Lowell said. “Participating in an award program like the WebAwards not only created a wonderful marketing opportunity, but we received valuable feedback that will help us make our Web site even better.”

Using a Press Release to get More Customers

Using a Press Release to get More Customers

There are many great stories about press releases being used to profit small business owners. If used correctly they can be used to get you into a small newspaper, driving customers to your business.

Keywords:
Press Release, Marketing, Advertising, Word of Mouth

This guide aims to show you what a press release is, whether or not it will benefit your business and the basics of how to write one.

There are many great stories about press releases being used to profit small business owners. If used correctly they can be used to get you into a small newspaper, driving customers to your business.

Sometimes, even the most run-of-the-mill small business owner ends up getting international fame and huge business profits from a simple press release.

A press release is how a lot of news starts. It is a very short piece of writing that a journalist or reporter reads, looking for a story to write about.

If they find something that might be interesting to their paper they contact the people listed on the release, give an interview and publish the story in their newspaper.

Free advertising! One young Brit named Alex Tew had a very simple idea for an online business – selling pixels on his website as advertising. The website was called milliondollarhomepage.com and it had no content and should have found it difficult to gain traffic.

BUT the university student wrote a press release and submitted it to a directory online. The BBC picked it up and soon he was internationally famous and had made over one million dollars from the attention this press release earned him.

So how do you use this in the same way to earn more money?

The key to press-release writing as advertising is that you are not trying to sell your product this time. (I know, weird isn’t it?!) You are selling your STORY and hoping this will get you attention and generate traffic.

Alex Tew had a good story. He was a university art student just trying to make ends meet, he had a very ambitious plan, a new idea and the guts to carry it out.

However, he was just a normal person trying to make money online.

In reality, anyone can write their business as a story. Is there a special reason you started it? You may think “Ambitious mother of four just trying to pay the rent stories” are old but if you’ve read a newspaper or heard the news then you’ll know that everyone else eats them up.

What did you have to go through to secure the fincance for your business? Did you start out with $2 stolen from your grandmother’s purse? Tell the truth but make it interesting. After all, free advertising comes at the price of a good story.

Once you have found your “angle” on your business then just make it short. Use basic language and convey your story so a journalist can scan-read it.

There is a specific format to writing a press release and you can find websites that show you how to write to that format quite easily.

Once you have written it, submission is another art. You can submit to large directories online as well as politely calling journalists themselves and offering it to them. Guides to this can be found too.

I hope this article has helped to give you ideas about how to make money using press releases. It is definitely a profitable side of marketing not to be ignored.

Getting Your Services Used

Апрель 11th, 2010

Getting Your Services Used

Every day I talk with professional service providers who do great work, have a valuable service that really helps people…and struggle to get their services used as much as they’d like.

They get a lukewarm response after an initial conversation while networking, the referrals come in but don’t convert to real business as often as they’d like, and they can’t seem to get prospects to see them as that much better than other professionals offering similar services.

Keywords:
marketing strategy marketing marketing implementation marketing success marketing your business business marketing marketing resources marketing consulting marketing education stategic marketing

Or they may get some attention from prospects as a result of an ad, published article, or speech…but then the early attention kind of fizzles into phone tag and no real client, in the end.

So what’s the problem? In most cases, they’re not getting far enough with the prospect to reveal the quality of their work…so it’s not about their professional work. And some professionals DO have decent positioning and credibility-building things in place like client testimonials and case studies on their websites (although the latter – done effectively – is rare, unfortunately).

There are a lot of things that can go wrong in the marketing and sales process. But in most cases, the key thing I see missing is a decent approach to packaging your professional services. Part of successfully packaging your services means putting what you offer into a variety of formats and “packages” that your clients need, at prices they’ll pay.

Networking and asking for referrals are a waste of time (or are a lot harder), if you don’t have something for prospects to easily buy…a choice of easy “yes’s” in the form of thoughtfully packaged versions of your services.

Real Life Examples that Work

Here are some examples to illustrate what I mean. These are simple ways to repackage what typically is only offered as consulting services (whatever your specialty may be). Each format offers your clients a different level of commitment, time, and money…increasing the chances that you’ll find the right fit for their needs:

* Weekly Coaching to Get & Stay On Track: Good for prospects who hesitate to take that first step or just need a little encouragement to start small. Great for people who need the structure and discipline of a regular meeting (telephone or in person) to keep on track.

* Multi-Hour Strategy Session: Particularly useful if you sell to other businesses. A quick, affordable way for prospects to get specific feedback and new ideas on their existing approach to what you offer.

* 1-Day Jump-Start Retreat: A more in-depth version of the idea above. Especially useful if you bring a management team together.

* Multiple-Day or Monthly Workshop or Clinic: A different way to impart your expertise and help your clients “learn to fish for themselves.”

* Quick Audit: An affordable, finite commitment to let a prospect get a small sample of your approach. Can often develop into a longer engagement.

* Strategy + Action Planning: A safe way for prospects to get real value, without buying the whole nine yards. Again, this is a finite engagement that produces a blueprint for future work.

* Implementation Services: This is typically the primary service professional service firms offer. To make this more “buyable,” break it into phases and smaller, incremental commitments.

* The Round Table: Collaborate with trusted peers to provide a multi-faceted approach to helping your clients.

How do I know that these approaches motivate prospects to become clients? Because I use all of them in my practice and they all get results. My business model represents a mix of revenue streams, none of which is tied completely to a traditional consulting model.

For more tips on how to get your services used by offering options through creative packaging, keep reading…

Give your prospects choices and you’ll increase the odds they more quickly turn into paying clients. Here’s how:

1. Package your services to offer clients have a variety of ways they can work with you. Think small, then incrementally add steps in larger sizes. Before you know it, you’ll have a range of ways to help your clients.

2. Give each service a catchy title that’s all about how your client will benefit. For example, I offer the “More Clients Than You Ever Thought Possible!” Marketing Clinic and the “Maximize Your Online Strategy” Website Audit. Make the title about your clients, not you.

3. “Productize” your services to generate passive income. Record your public talks and sell them as tapes on your website. Combine sets of articles and sell them as mini-books. These are fairly easy, low-cost things to do.

4. Go back to current and past clients with your new range of services and/or product-based solutions. Just because they bought one type of service from you in the past, doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be interested in new ways you can help them.

5. Make sure your pricing structure offers prospects a range of choices. Make it easy for them to take the first step by offering something small and relatively inexpensive. There’s a lot that can be said about pricing, which I’ll cover in a future issue of this newsletter.

6. Don’t be afraid to spell out your range of services in your marketing materials and on your website. Demystify what you do by offering lots of information, including details of what your clients can expect in terms of deliverables, timeframes, targeted results, and what they need to do to ensure success.

7. The bottom line is to use client-centered descriptions and language. Even though this is about your services, it’s not. It’s about how your clients will succeed and what problems they’ll solve by choosing a particular service. I just can’t emphasize this enough!

Experiment with a number of packages and see what works and what doesn’t. Play with the variables: title, size, price, description, deliverables, and so on. You’ve got nothing to lose, but future clients.

Managing: new managers shouldn’t be so hard on themselves

Managing: new managers shouldn’t be so hard on themselves

Management skills are not built into our human DNA—we need to give ourselves time to learn them.

Keywords:
managing, management skills, new managers

Moving from staff into management for the first time is exciting—but it can also be scarey.

There’s so much you don’t know. Somehow managing looked so easy from the outside, but now you actually have to do it, you realize it’s more complicated than you thought. Before, you had certain tasks to accomplish and you knew you had the skills to do them. You still have responsibility for those tasks, but now you have to see that the work is done effectively by other people. That’s a whole new task in itself, and you’re not sure you’re up to the job.

You also find that it’s hard to concentrate on the planning that is such an important part of managing, because emergencies large and small seem to arise all the time and people keep running to you to resolve them. The expression “When you’re up to your neck in alligators, it’s hard to remember you were trying to drain the swamp” might have been written for new managers!

In these early days, you must learn not to be too hard on yourself. Management skills are not built into our human DNA—we have to learn them as we go. Promise yourself you’ll learn at least one management lesson every day. Set aside a few moments at the end of each day to think about that day’s lesson and how you’ll use it to improve your management skills. Sometimes these lessons will be hard, but each one will give you something to build on if you are willing to learn.

Each day will bring you new challenges, new experiences—and new successes. It’s easy to forget the successes and focus on all the things that didn’t go so well, so I recommend you keep a diary of all your new experiences. Then, on those days when you think becoming a manager was all a horrible mistake, you can read over your diary and remind yourself just how far you’ve come.

Becoming a manager is a journey. Like any journey, it offers both good and bad experiences, enjoyable and not-so-enjoyable aspects, positive and negative events. Just take it one stage at a time, learn from each experience—good or bad—and you’ll gradually find yourself becoming more and more comfortable in your management role.

Monsters in Meetings – Part 2, Multiple Conversations

A simple side conversation can eat holes in a meeting. Here’s how to stop them and bring your meeting back on track. (This is the second of a seven part article on Managing Monsters in Meetings.)

Keywords:
effective meetings, bad meetings, business meeting, monsters in meetings, problem participants, facilitation, steve kaye, facilitator, leadership, one great meeting

Side conversations ruin meetings by destroying focus and fragmenting participation.

Here’s how to bring your meeting back on track when a side conversation starts.

Approach 1: Ask for cooperation

Start by asking everyone to cooperate. Look at the middle of the group (instead of at the people talking) and say:

“Excuse me (pause to gain everyone’s attention). I know all of your ideas are important. So, please let’s have one speaker at a time.”

“Excuse me. I’m having difficulty hearing what [contributing participant] is saying.”

“There seems to be a great deal of interest for this issue. Could we have just one speaker at a time?”

These statements diplomatically acknowledge that a side conversation is occurring without naming the participants or putting them on the spot. Hostile statements, such as: “Hey you! Stop that!” will create hard feelings that undermine your effectiveness as a leader.

Approach 2: Change the process

If side conversations continue, change the rules to make cooperation more convenient. For example, you could use a speaking prop.

A speaking prop is an object that entitles the holder to speak. When the person finishes speaking, the prop is passed on to the next person who wants to speak. Possible props include a gavel, paper cup, or toy. If you are working on a controversial issue, select a soft object, such as a teddy bear or foam ball. It reduces stress and potential injury (if thrown).

Introduce the new process by saying:

“We seem to have a lot of enthusiasm for this issue. So, let’s decide that only the person holding the gavel (cup, teddy bear, foam ball) may speak. Is that okay?”

Notice this statement begins with a complimentary acknowledgment of the situation (multiple conversations) followed by a suggestion and ends with a request for cooperation.

Use these techniques to regain control of your meeting.

As you might be aware, joomla is one of the most successful open source software on the web and it’s written with php and most of the webmasters are familiar with it.

So now the question in your mind must be -how can we make money from successful software?

Let me first tell you on how Andi Sikumbang earns over $2000 from his website selling joomla templates.

The site makes it’s money through membership subscription.

He offers yearly membership template for only $35. This is amazing because he started his collection with only 5 templates and it sold very well. He now has 9 templates and still keeps attracting new members.

Did you get an idea? If you are able to fulfill a demand of the market, then even you have little to offer, people will come and take it. The most important point here is that you may have little but that little should be of high quality.

Now let’s look at how to start a software business based on joomla project as successfully demonstrated by Templateplazza.com.

There is an add on software for joomla which is called ‘extension’. In other words it’s a plug-in system where you will need the main software (joomla) to run it.

At the joomla website (http://extensions.joomla.org/), you’ll see a huge collection of extentions developed by some individual or a company. Most of them are free. Our purpose is to make money. So use the advance search option to look for commercial extentions.

I found about 60 commercial software based on joomla. The price varies, ranging from tens to hundreds of dollars.

This is a good business idea and the main advantage is that you do not need to build community, they and their community will be happy to promote your software.

This way you already are a step ahead and need to concentrate only on developing the product.

How To Generate Cash From Promoting Affiliate Programs

This article illustrates how can you earn a stable income through affiliate programs. It also recommends some of the places where you can utilize to promote your affiliate products.

Keywords:
affiliate programs, promoting affiliate products

Advertising is the only task you need to do to get RICH from affiliate programs. With huge traffic flowing to your site everyday, chances of visitor or potential customer will buy your product is definitely higher!

Research had been made and shows that normal affiliates seems to make a sale with a percentage ratio of 0.5% – 1% (Sometime lower, depending on the products/service). With appropriate advertising method and correct niche market, it is possible to increase the ratio to 5% – 10%. So what actually is advertising? Read on to find out how to utilize advertising to your advantage below.

Online advertising, also known as internet marketing, is a form of communication to apprise potential customer about your products and services, either by text or graphic base. Many of you already know what advertisement is, but many advertisements copy often short of 2 important element. Without these 2 elements, putting your advertisement blindly in the internet/website is just a waste of time, as well as money.

First, you need to target your niche market. You must know very well where are the most potential customer located. Research has also proven that placing advertisement in the right market with lesser traffic flow EARNS more profit than those who advertise in a site where millions of non-relevant traffic flows everyday. Second, you need marketing techniques. There are many types of advertising and I will go through some of the effective ones below.

PPC (Pay-Per-Click). This type of advertising should be your top list of market techniques. There are basically 2 major companies in the PPC industries, Google AdWords and Yahoo! Search Marketing. How do they work? You might ask. PPC is one of the advertising methods where you bid for the keywords. Your desired keywords might have a higher or lower bidding depending on the competition. Advertising in Google Adwords is more effective because Google is the number one search engine used by surfers, especially online shoppers. You ads will appear on Google, Google Directory, Google Groups, Google’s partner sites, etc. The procedure of advertising in Google Adwords is very easy as well.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization). SEO is the process of improving the volume and quality traffic to a web site from search engine. Usually, a site that has a better ranking will attract more searchers to the site through search engines.
There are a lot of e-books that teaches how to make use of SEO and improve your ranking in the search engines. Once you have optimized your pages for the search engines, you will start seeing huge traffic flowing to your site everyday.

Are there any ‘SECRETS’ in online marketing or advertising? For me, I would say YES! Many top affiliate have their own source of advertising. They often hide their ’secrets’ so as to prevent the loss of profits. Different products or services play very well with various advertising techniques. You will have to try and find out from your experiments. In this way, you will eventually discover the legend of internet marketing!

Lastly, never ever QUIT on this industry! If things do not work out in the way that you want it to be, fine tune your marketing strategies. If it still fails, I would suggest changing to various affiliate program and try out something different. Sooner or later, you will find yourself on the track, without noticing.

Good Luck in promoting your affiliate programs!

The following article includes pertinent information that may cause you to reconsider what you thought you understood. The most important thing is to study with an open mind and be willing to revise your understanding if necessary.

There’s tons of money to be made from the Google Adsense program for web masters and blog owners. That’s why “the vultures are circling” and folks are getting sucked in with all sorts of offers that promise instant high Adsense revenue. One of the top-selling products these days are those lists with the highest-paying Google Adsense keywords. Many people are desperately searching out for these lists and many will not hesitate to pay for them, especially because there are some keywords that are reputed to be capable of earning $100 per click.

I’m not saying all the lists are bad? In fact a good number of them are genuine and are created by high earning Adsense webmasters looking to maximize on their profits and to get something back from their time-consuming valuable keywords research efforts. Nothing wrong with that, in fact it makes perfect business sense. Except that you don’t really need those lists, there is a better proven way to increase your Adsense earnings.

The Adsense Secret Is All About Finding A Niche

The most important Adsense secret you will discover is that to make money and be successful, all you need to do is to stick to the basic rules for success in online marketing. The basics are that you need to find a niche that is not so competitive and one which you can contribute something special to based on your past experience, knowledge and skills. Everything else will then fall into place after this. Virtually every subject and topic you can think of will have relevant and valuable keywords.

This is in sharp contrast to the approach being encouraged by list-sellers. Which is to start by finding high-paying valuable keywords and then creating sites or blogs based on them. To start with Google do not like the idea because one of their rules is that you should not create a site or blog for the sole purpose of making money from Adsense. Of course it is easy to get round this one by quickly creating some products around your site and you really don’t need to care whether they sell or not, but who are you fooling?

The World Wide Web is increasingly busy and increasingly competitive and what this means is that niches are becoming increasingly vital and critical to online success.

Truthfully, the only difference between you and Top Paying Adsense Keywords experts is time. If you’ll invest a little more time in reading, you’ll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to Top Paying Adsense Keywords.

You Will Earn More From Adsense With Multiple Sites/Blogs

Once you’ve found your niche, you can create a number of different sites narrowing your niche even further in different directions. I’ve used this strategy very successfully and I find that I am constantly coming up with new ideas for new sites without leaving my area of expertise. Of course I create relevant links between my different sites so as to maximize on the traffic that I receive. The important word here is “relevant”. There is nothing that puts off folks more than clicking on a link only to find that it is barely relevant to the information they are seeking. You’re wasting their time and they will not appreciate it. Better not to link at all in the first place.

What some high-earning Adsense folks have done is to create numerous blogs (some up to 50 and even more.) This strategy makes sense because the more pages you have with Adsense ads on them, the higher the chances of somebody clicking on some of the ads and therefore the higher your potential income. What I can’t imagine is how they manage to keep all the different blogs fed with quality content. I once tried this strategy with just one or two sites and it was very exhausting getting content for sites outside my area of expertise. There are increasing reports of incidents of pirated online content and I guess you now understand part of the reason why.

When you stick to one subject, keeping all your blogs fed with content becomes a breeze. You simply take one idea and modify it or slant it differently for the different sites. Even more important, it is easy to use the same valuable Adsense keywords for all the sites as you discover them.

A Free Tool To Help You Find Valuable Adsense Keywords

Here is a valuable tool that I use myself to constantly research valuable Adsense keywords. While you do not need those valuable Adsense keywords lists, you need to constantly research valuable Adsense keywords for yourself. Top Adsense earners spend a vast majority of their time doing this. You need to do the same if you want to be earn a serious income from the Adsense program.

You can’t predict when knowing something extra about Top Paying Adsense Keywords will come in handy. If you learned anything new about &keyword% in this article, you should file the article where you can find it again.

Word of Mouth Marketing on The Web

Online marketing presents you with an opportunity to get more bang for your buck compared to traditional marketing. This is particularly true for word of mouth marketing.

Online marketing presents you with an opportunity to get more bang for your buck compared to traditional marketing. This is particularly true for word of mouth marketing.

Word of Mouth Marketing on The Web

Word of mouth marketing refers to a type of marketing that promotes something by enticing independent parties to promote the service, idea or product to friends. The idea is to create a buzz for the subject matter. In creating the buzz, the goal is to create enough word of mouth momentum to get the idea to spread quickly. People are the sole conduit for the momentum. If you get it right, an entire product can become an established success with little or no paid marketing.

A classic example of word of mouth marketing, often called viral, is the situation involving Red Bull. Red Bull is an energy drink. When it was first introduced in Europe, rumors spread that the drink was an aphrodisiac. Nobody knows who started the rumors, but Red Bull became very popular. It then evolved into a mixer for alcoholic drinks in nightclubs and the rest is history. It is a hugely popular product and much of the popularity arose through this word of mouth process.

Word of mouth marketing online works in much the same way. The primary difference is it tends to happen much quicker than in the real word. The Internet is full of forums where like minded people congregate. A new, cool product, idea or service can blow up a site over night. If you don’t believe me, consider the wild success of the My Space platform, Napster, EBay and so on. Most of these sites grew into behemoths because of word of mouth endorsements, not paid advertising.

Obviously, this type of marketing can lead to tremendous riches. Unfortunately, it isn’t particularly easy to accomplish. Everyone is trying to do it, so you really need to be pushing something unique. If you can come up with something, it is time to hit forums and other sites to create a buzz.

A traditional way to pursue viral marketing online is to offer a free e-book. The book will detail your thoughts on some subject matter, such as marketing. One makes the book available for downloading and also allows people to send it to others. If you are offering something of quality, the book should spread quickly to thousands and thousands of people.

The ultimate goal is to promote it over and over until hundreds of thousands of people have read it. At that point, you write another e-book which you sell for $3 to $5. If people liked the first book, they will buy the second. If 100,000 read the first one and only 10 percent buy the second, you will have 10,000 sales. This strategy has been pursued over and over by many authors.

The word of mouth approach is definitely a hit and miss strategy. The large online communities make it a viable strategy, but there are a lot of people trying to do it. If you fail 50 times, but succeed once, life will be very good.
